Morris U19 Boy's Rugby
Morris Rugby Football Club sponsors a Community based Boys U19 High School rugby program. The program is intended for high school aged students 15 to 19 yrs of age and open to all players with or without experience. If you haven't tried playing rugby yet, now is the time! The program is run as a full contact activity with matches scheduled against other U19 programs throughout the Tri-State area. We also enter into 2 or 3 tournaments during the season to introduce players to teams from outside the local area. Training sessions are designed to develop the skills necessary to succeed at this exciting sport, focusing on fitness, running, passing and the strategic elements required to ensure a fundamental knowledge of the game. The training sessions will also ensure players are properly prepared if they express interest in continuing their rugby playing careers into college and beyond.
Mandatory Medical Forms Posted Below
In preparation for the upcoming season, team players will need to complete the following forms (each of which is posted below):
- USA Rugby Medical Questionnaire
- NJSBRO Concussion Info Form
- Baseline Concussion Testing Instructions
These forms will be kept by the coach on the sideline for use by the Athletic Trainers or Medical Personnel in case of player injury.
It is required for all members of our U19 Boys team to have a copy of the player's school or other photo ID on the sideline in case the age of the player is contested.
Spring outdoor practices will be held in front of Mennen Arena starting in early March, continuing until late May, on Tues. and Thurs. evenings, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Fall sessions, held on Sunday afternoons, begin in early October, continuing until Mid-November, followed by our annual Rudy Kelly Alumni Game. Winter Indoor practice sessions are being held at Randolph Indoor Sports Pavilion (ISP) from 8-9pm each Thursday evening starting in early December, continuing through late February. League and non-league matches will be played in the spring during the week or on weekends, depending on league requirements. USARFU Certified rugby coaches from the Morris Rugby Club make up the coaching staff.

Each year, more Morris coaches continue to push themselves to coach at higher and higher levels. It was back in 2007 that Tom Feury first began to coach the MetNY U19 select side at the Challenge Cup RAST in Pittsburgh each summer. It was through that experience that he was able to work with many the top area rugby players.
On Sunday September 29, Morris Rugby hosted a USA Rugby 200 Level Coaching Clinic.
It is with great pleasure that the Morris Rugby Board of Trustees announce the appointment of Morné Pretorious to the position of Director of Coaching for our Youth Tackle Programs. Morné has been working with the Morris Rugby Board for some weeks now and has developed a coaching strategy that will ensure competitive rugby is fostered and played at all levels by delivering a coaching framework that is consistent throughout the club.
